Browsing Charges for Web
Browsing charges (also known as data charges) are based on the amount of data that you use to browse and download, not on the amount of time spent using the application. These charges only apply when you:
- access sites on the Web tab such as ebay, MySpace Mobile, Yahoo! and Hotmail through a BigPond Mobile,
- leave the Home or Today tabs (for example, by clicking on an external website link in a Sensis Search results screen) or
- directly access sites from your mobile browser.
To minimise the browsing charges that apply make sure you access content through the My Place Menu on your compatible mobile, rather than navigating to it through BigPond Mobile Services.
Browsing Packs
If you have a mobile phone that is on a plan, there are two ways to manage your browsing needs - Pay As You Go, or by choosing a monthly Browsing Pack.
If you have a pre-paid phone, there are also two options - Pay As You Go, or by purchasing a Browse Plus Pack.
Pay As You Go (PAYG):
This option suits an infrequent data user and those who prefer to simply pay for what they use. The PAYG option doesn't have any included allowance, and you get charged by the kilobyte (or part), for the browsing you do every month. The PAYG rate is $2.00 per MB and will apply automatically unless you select a monthly Browsing Pack (for mobiles on a plan) or a Browse Plus Pack (for pre-paid mobiles).
Select a Browsing Pack:
If your mobile is on an eligible post-paid plan, a Browsing Pack is a better option if you plan to use data more frequently as it gives you a set amount of data each month for a monthly fee. If you use more than this amount each month you pay for that extra browsing at a reduced PAYG rate - so you get more for your money. There is a range of Browsing Pack options that start from 5MB of included data per month - up to 3GB per month. You can change your Browsing Pack as your needs change. Unused included data expires each month.
Select a Browse Plus Pack:
If you have a pre-paid mobile service, Browse Plus Packs also give you a set amount of data. Once you have used your allowance in the pack you revert to PAYG charges but can purchase a new Browse Plus Pack at any time. These packs are not a monthly subscription. Browsing Packs for mobiles on a plan
If you plan to browse sites on the Web tab through BigPond Mobile Services or use a PDA for email and browsing data and your mobile is on a plan, one of the following packs may be the right choice for you.

Content and subscription service charges
You may also be charged for content to play or download from BigPond Mobile Services and through sites on the Web tab, or for subscription services.
You will usually be notified of content or subscription service charges when you visit a web site and be asked to confirm your acceptance of the charge before proceeding. If your mobile phone is on a plan, all BigPond Mobile Services content and subscription service charges will appear on your Telstra bill. If you have a pre-paid service, your BigPond Mobile Services content and subscription service charges will be deducted from your pre-paid account balance.
1024 bytes = 1 kilobyte and 1024 kilobytes = 1 megabyte.

2. If you access BigPond Mobile Services content or subscription services from your handset through means other than My Place portal, additional data charges may apply.
