ADSL Minimum System Requirements

The following are the minimum recommended system requirements for BigPond Broadband ADSL service using your BigPond ADSL Standard Modem for a single computer, or the ADSL Home Network Gateway (Wi-Fi modem) - BigPond's wire-free home/office networking solution.

If you already have your own Telstra-approved ADSL modem and would like the BYO modem option, check the modem's system requirements - but in general, the minimum requirements for the BigPond Wired ADSL Standard modem below applies. Also, we highly recommend your protect your system and vital data with anti-virus and firewall software.


ADSL Standard modem connection

BigPond's minimum system requirements for an ADSL Standard modem connection1 are as follows:

BigPond's minimum system requirements for the ADSL Home Network Gateway (Wi-Fi modem)1 are as follows:

Not Supported PCs in a LAN or sharing environment. (This includes PCs that have 2 network cards installed but are not currently connected to a network. Please place your PC into a stand-alone single state before you call the Helpdesk).

HTML programming, Domain Names, Editing registry settings.

Hardware such as Routers, Proxy Servers and Hubs.

Servers such as Web Servers, Mail Servers, FTP Servers.

BigPond's free Technical Support only extends to the modems, hardware and software specified in our Minimum System Requirements. We focus on the most popular compatible hardware and software so that we can provide in-depth support information to our Members.

We also offer limited telephone technical support to Members with BYO modems, however our Online Help Centre is packed with installation and troubleshooting tips for the commonly used modems on Telstra's ADSL Modem list.
